     FOREST FIRE PROTECTION

To extinguish fires in the state forestry enterprises there were created 239 fire-chemical stations and fire fighting equipment points, equipped with all necessary fire-extinguishing tools.
There exist 72 video surveillance systems for early detection of forest fires and adjacent territory monitoring.
2010 there was observed the high, in particular districts the extreme fire hazard because of weather conditions. In spite of this during the fire season in the forests of the Ministry of Forestry there was registered relative small number of ignitions – 534 accidents on the total area of 371 ha. Comparing to 2009 the number of accidents and the area of ignitions in the forest fund have decreased by 57% and 76% respectively.
Due to joint efforts of the State Forest Guard and rescuers the situation with forest fires was taken under control. Undertaken activities and permanent woodland patrolling contributed to the maintenance of the fire situation in Belarusian forests and prevented the increase in the number of fires and their spreading to the considerable areas. The positive influence had the restrictions and ban on forest visiting and also postponement of autumn hunting for game-bird.
The set of preventive measures was carried out and administrative proceedings against violators were instituted. 820 people were made answerable for the violation of the fire safety requirements in forests and on peat bogs, the rate increased by a factor of 2.2 comparing to 2009.
